The 304L is a 304L stainless steel tube with a low carbon content and is used for welding purposes. The lower carbon content makes the carbides in the heat affected zone near the weld reduced to the minimum, while the precipitation of carbides may lead to intergranular corrosion in some environments (weld erosion); 304N is a nitrogen-containing stainless steel, and nitrogen is added to increase the strength of the steel.
